The youthful, attractive look usually displays lips that are full in volume, have a discernable border (even a ridge) between lip tissue and skin and have a “Cupids Bow” with a slight hollow above the middle top lip.  The corners of the mouth are not down turned (see melomental folds) and the volume is concentrated more centrally but lip surface is discernable right out to the sides.  Caucasian (“white”) lips show dominance in volume of the lower lip whereas both the upper and lower lip of the Negroid (“black”) face are equal in volume.

Tissue filler injections into the lip can redefine the lip outline ridge and “cupids bow”, can fill out the hollows in the lip corners, and can revolumise the body of the lip recreating the correct proportions and profile.  Just a conservative amount of filler can create wonders and at the Taryn Laine Clinic we will not overdo it, so making you look “done” like an exaggerated Hollywood makeover. 

Lip filler injections can be quite painful so we us filler with added aneasthetic and offer to administer local anaesthetic blocks.  We also liberally use cryotherapy.

If you have suffered from fever blisters before, then we advise and prescribe a course of tablets to prevent a reflare.

Expect the swelling to be exaggerated for a day or so afterwards, so pick your procedure time appropriately and preferably one or two weeks prior to an important social engagement. Lip filler injections are both a medical skill and an art and require considerable experience to achieve a pleasing result.  Choose your injector wisely.
